Brekford Corp. Awarded Town of Landover Hills' First School Zone Safety Cameras Program

HANOVER, Md., Oct. 25, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Brekford Corp. (OTCQB:BFDI), a leading homeland technology service provider of fully integrated vehicle installation and rugged technology solutions geared towards mission critical operations, is pleased to announce the signing of a multi-year contract to provide the Landover Hills township with its School Zone Speed Cameras and related program support services. The contract is for one (1) year with five (5) renewable years. The Town of Landover Hills initially plans to implement both portable and mobile cameras which will be installed near the schools residing in the town. The state of Maryland passed legislation in May 2009 allowing municipalities to operate this life-saving technology in school and work zones. For the first 30 days, Landover Hills Police Department will use the speed cameras to issue warning notices to vehicles exceeding the speed limit by 12 miles per hour or more over the posted speed. After the initial 30-day period of sending out warning tickets, drivers captured speeding will then be issued a $40 speeding citation. During May 2010 an independent study conducted at targeted Landover Hills' sites revealed more than 3,500 vehicles traveling 12 mph above the speed limit through its school zones.

Landover Hills Police Chief Henry Norris expects that this program would cut down the number of speed violations in the areas near the schools and would enhance safety for the kids and our citizens. "Our police department has many duties throughout the community for which speed enforcement consumes greater amounts of our time. This time could be better spent fulfilling other police duties within the town. As Landover Hills takes speeding in and around our schools seriously, we are hoping that these cameras can slow people down by adding an additional enforcement tool to assist our agency in protecting our children and other pedestrians who also use our roads."

C.B. Brechin, Chief Executive Officer of Brekford commented: "Brekford is tremendously pleased to be chosen for this contract by the Town of Landover Hills. School zone safety camera programs are important to the public as they enable us to keep our children safer from speeding violators and possible accidents. The law in Maryland has been very well crafted for this purpose. A decrease in speed and an increase in safety for our children within school zones should be the intent of all programs. We applaud the Town of Landover Hills' commitment to public safety."
