Brekford's Winning Streak Continues With Partnership in Denton for Speed Enforcement

HANOVER, Md., March 26, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Brekford Corp. (OTCBB:BFDI) (OTCQB:BFDI), a leading public safety technology service provider of fully integrated traffic safety solutions, vehicle upfitting, and rugged mobile technology, has been selected for a multi-year speed enforcement contract in Denton, MD. This contract award comes on the heels of a major announcement last week about the company's expanded market reach into the state of Florida.

Brekford's speed cameras, also known as photographic speed-monitoring systems, use special equipment to automatically measure the speed of vehicles and produce photos of the violators. A study from the Cochrane Collaboration for IHHS shows that this type of speed enforcement technology has helped to reduce injurious and fatal crashes by as much as 58 percent.

"Speeding is an overlooked problem in many communities, since most people don't consider the potential consequences when they are late for work and driving above the speed limit," said C.B. Brechin, Brekford's CEO. "Unfortunately, the startling number of speed related crashes reflects this attitude. The latest Census reports that there were over 10,500 speed related traffic fatalities in the United States in that year alone."

The incorporation of speed camera programs with Denton's police efforts demonstrates the town's commitment to ensuring the safety of pedestrians and motorists alike. Chief Rodney Cox commented, "These speed cameras will be deployed in a manner that is fair, transparent and will provide the greatest amount of benefit to our town.  Our speed camera program will target specific areas where speeding and aggressive driving is most dangerous, around our schools."

The terms of the Denton contract are for up to five (5) camera systems for a period of two (2) years of service. The town has the option of renewing the contract up to four more times for a period of one (1) year each. For the first 30 days, the Denton Police Department will use the speed cameras to issue warning notices to vehicles exceeding the speed. After the initial 30-day period, drivers captured speeding will be issued a citation.

"Brekford's automated traffic enforcement programs allow towns to provide increased traffic safety while maximizing police efforts," stated Maurice Nelson, Managing Director of Brekford. "It is impossible for the police to be everywhere at all times. Our cameras allow local police forces to focus their efforts on ensuring consistent enforcement in some of our nation's most vulnerable areas."

Brechin added, "We are pleased that Denton has selected Brekford to provide speed enforcement services. Contracts of this nature validate the growing commitment by communities nationwide to use progressive new technologies to increase public safety, which speaks volumes to the Company's long-term potential."
