Brekford's Reach in Prince George's County Continues to Grow With Partnership in Greenbelt

HANOVER, Md., March 28, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Brekford Corp. (the "Company") (OTCBB:BFDI) (OTCQB:BFDI), a leading public safety technology service provider of vehicle upfitting, rugged mobile technology, and fully integrated traffic safety solutions, has been selected for a speed enforcement contract in Greenbelt, MD. While not new to other cities in Prince George's County, this will be Brekford's first contract for safety speed cameras in Greenbelt, representing yet another addition to a growing list of municipal agencies that have chosen Brekford to help address traffic enforcement needs.

Brekford was one of several state-approved vendors to bid on the Greenbelt contract. Close observation by the selection committee, however, led city officials to choose Brekford as the clear technology solutions leader. Cpl. Derrick Washington said, "By taking the time to visit police departments in both Bowie and Laurel, we were able to see what was being offered and how that matched up with what end users were actually experiencing. Brekford had many advantages over comparable systems."

Mayor Judith Davis added, "The contract specifics are to be determined. Exactly where and how many cameras are still being worked out. The Brekford Corp. will conduct research in the area for optimal camera placement. Based on that research, the city will decide the placement and number of cameras needed."

Under Maryland law, the municipality must notify the community of camera placements and activations on its website and in the newspaper. Once placed, the camera systems will issue warnings for a period of 30 days. After this initial introductory period, each driver surpassing 12 miles over the speed limit will be issued a $40 citation.

"By combining Brekford's safe speed camera units with police efforts, Greenbelt is committing resources to protect both the motorists and the pedestrians that traverse its streets," stated C.B. Brechin, Brekford's CEO. "Our automated traffic safety units will support police efforts to enhance public safety by targeting specific areas where speeding and aggressive driving is most dangerous, particularly in areas around schools."

Brechin went on to say, "Greenbelt's selection of Brekford's automated traffic safety enforcement services further validates the fact that our units are reestablishing the benchmark for industry standards. As more communities commit to increasing public safety through the use of technological solutions, Brekford will continue to champion the way through our 360° approach to engineered solutions, as well as our commitment to comprehensive back end support."
